We are very excited to be able to share our first ever trend report with you! Hopefully this will be the first of many reports looking at new trends within a specific season (in this case Spring/Summer 2018).
Our first trend is Colourblock Brights which is all about injecting bold colours in clearly defined ways. Our Khand and Aakaar cushions are the perfect example of this with vibrant colours in geometric patterns and arrangements. A great way to get the look without re-designing an entire room is to use bold cushions on a chair or sofa with a statement rug.
We feel a natural affinity with the Refined Coastal look which perfectly fits with the gentle pastel tones in our fabrics and antique furniture. Being so close to the beautiful North Norfolk coastline, our shop is very much influenced by a seaside lifestyle. Painted furniture is a great way to introduce this look, especially when dressed with delicate glassware and votives.
Relaxed Rustic is a great 2018 trend to play around with in your own home. It is an easily achievable look that relies on simple styling and layering natural textures in neutral tones. Think rattan and rustic linen with accents of subtle, dusky colours like seagrass and taupe. Our Beth lamps are ideal for this look and we love our Lotus tablemats used as part of relaxed, simple table settings.
Global Nomad is one of our favourite trends for Spring/Summer. All of our products are heavily influenced by traditional Indian culture and Birdie has taken direct inspiration from the rich colours for our SS18 collection. Art is an easy way to get this look and Bea Forshall’s ‘Cockatoo’ from our current collection is a perfect example. For a complete look for a bedroom use kantha throws, cushions in earthy tones and accessories in natural materials.
Our final SS18 trend is Florals. This look is perfect for making your own as it can be interpreted as whimsical and delicate or stylized and bold. Our two floral collections (Pratham and Jeevant) work at either end of the spectrum and can both be mixed in with plain velvet cushions for a sumptuous, layered look.
