We often get asked for styling advice and how to add interest to a room is a common question. Our first response is always cushions! This is particularly pertinent as we approach Christmas and our attention turns to decorating. The beauty of cushions is that they can be changed easily. This doesn’t need to be expensive and just juggling them around and adding the odd one or two can make an enormous difference. So why not give your home an instant festive makeover!
The Latest Collection
Our latest collection of Limited Edition Silk Kantha cushions have just arrived in our North Norfolk shop and we are thrilled with them! The silk textures and rich colours are a wonderful way to add a hint of seasonal embellishment. Here are a few of our favourites...
We always get excited when Birdie has uncovered some beautiful fabrics to add to the collection and this latest selection of Limited Edition Silk Kantha does not disappoint! Each unique Kantha panel was chosen to coordinate with our popular Medina range in a variety of blues, pinks and greens. We particularly love the scalloped trim which is the perfect way to add interest.

The Story behind Kantha Embroidery
Rural communities in India have a rich history of creating exquisite fabrics. One of the oldest forms of embroidery is Kantha with origins dating back thousands of years. It is made using simple running stitches to join fabrics together to create warm wraps and quilts.
Bengali women living in rural areas have played a significant part in reviving the modern incarnation of the craft. Techniques have been passed down from mother to daughter but were rejuvenated in the 1980s when Shamlu Dudeja founded Self Help Enterprise (SHE) who we have been lucky enough to work with. SHE works with artisans throughout Bengal to produce Kantha stitched panels.
