Claire Oxley - Shingle Spit
Claire is a Norfolk based artist who studied at the Norwich School of Art, and the Universities of Oxford and Lancaster. A synaesthete with a particular sense for colour and sound, she uses music as a starting point for many of her bold, abstract paintings.
Inspiration for Shingle Spit:
Looking closely at the hues and tones of pebbles and rocks is almost mesmeric: rhythm and pattern are strong features of Claire’s paintings. She spent many summer weeks as a child on the beaches of East Anglia, and these have made a strong impression on her. She’s also a sea-swimmer, and loves the element of water.
