Sonia Barton - Vintage Green

Sonia was born in Cornwall and is now living in West Dorset. After a childhood spent moving around, the everyday objects around her became particularly significant. Her recognisable still life paintings are generally rendered in a soft, muted colour palette. The juxtaposition of shapes and forms is emphasised by a flattened perspective and a naive distortion of the objects. Many layers of paint are added, areas are scraped back, lines, marks, patterns and textures appear and disappear leaving visible traces on the canvas.
