Steven James Will
Steven begins his artistic process by walking the marshes, heaths and woods that scatter the Suffolk coast where he lives. He collects and records as he walks - drawing and photographing everything from flora and fauna to litter and the spoils of our throwaway culture. Steven seeks to find beauty in even the most mundane objects that are nonetheless intrinsically part of the local landscape. His materials are also rooted in the land - mud, clays and wood ash are all used to decorate his thrown and cast porcelain. Steven’s ceramics are delicate and exquisitely made yet have a raw earthiness that makes them completely unique.
