Valentine's Day Tablescaping
6th February 2023

We are always looking for an excuse to create an abundant tablescape at home, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to bring out all your favourite tableware, whether you're laying the table for two or hosting a dinner party on a grander scale. Read on for our tasteful tablescape heroes and follow our step by step guide to creating the ultimate Valentine’s table.

Tablelinens and placemats are wonderful everyday pieces that can be easily dressed up for special occasions. Our Shashiko Embroidered Placemats make chic additions to any table, particularly when paired with the matching linen napkins for a smart, formal look. If you like to keep things more rustic, style our Reed Placemats on a bare table with coordinating Shashiko linens or Peony Napkins for a rich, artisanal look that is perfect for relaxed entertaining.

Now you have the base down, it’s time to add in stacks of your favourite ceramics and bring out your special glassware. For an elevated, stylised look, opt for matching dinnerware - our Bordered Hand-Painted Ceramics are perfect for this and can be layered in coordinating or contrasting colours. If the mismatched look is more your style, mix and match your ceramics but use coordinating colours which feature throughout your dining scheme to create balance and harmony. Enjoying a glass of wine with a loved one? Now is the perfect time to use the glassware that you ‘save for special occasions’.

Now it’s time to add in the special finishing touches - this is your chance to be creative! Though we like to stay clear from cliches around Valentine's, there is no denying that there is nothing more inviting and luxurious than an abundance of lit candles on a dining table. Create ambient lighting and a romantic atmosphere with a scattering of candlesticks along the centre of the table. For a formal look, pair the Foliage Hand-Painted Ceramic Candlesticks with the coordinating dining ceramics and opt for candles in varying tones.

Our go-to centerpiece for any table at any time of year is a vase of our favourite flowers. Create one large, dramatic flower arrangement with a large Shido Vase or a few smaller ones with our Kaanch Vases - try a combination of two or three colours for a relaxed but chic look. Rather than roses, opt for a less obvious choice - we love tulips and hydrangeas with a mix of green foliage.
