Clara Holmes - Blue Bowl of Plums
Clara Holmes is a Falmouth-based artist whose work documents still life studies around the table. A recent graduate of Falmouth University’s Graphic Design degree, Clara’s art practice is rooted in her research on food culture and the social connections it fosters. Her design work often explores the rituals of shared meals, the significance of dining spaces, and the role of food in bringing people together. Through painting, she translates her research into visual narratives, exploring the relationship between still life, memory, and community.
This still life collection captures moments around the table. Created with oils on canvas, each piece is inspired by smaller oil pastel sketches from life. Playing with colour and composition has been key within this series, each study exploring the narrative of community and connection over the table.
