The bird catcher from Mozart's Magic Flute.

Stoneware with white vitreous slip.

Rosemary was born in North Wales and studied Fine Art Sculpture at Norwich School of Art. Her work is deeply connected to the raw landscape and the changing seasons. She often refers to ‘hiraeth’ as key to her work. Hiraeth is a Welsh word that embodies the unique longing for home that is often tinged with grief and sadness. Rosemary’s captivating sculptures reference her preoccupation with Ancient Greek culture and the Classical world. She often also takes inspiration from dance and fencing to bring movement to her intriguing ceramic figures.

Dimensions:

Height - 23.5cm

Width - 17cm

Depth - 9cm

All of Rosemary's sculptures are made from crank clay, a robust material fired to around 1260 degrees to become stoneware. Its strength makes it well-suited for modelling.
