Introducing Lisboa; new for Autumn/Winter 23

Introducing Lisboa, new for AW23, a collection inspired by Birdie’s trips to Portugal and one which plays with pattern, colour and texture in a unique yet timeless way. Lisboa reimagines the vast array of dynamic pattern and design seen throughout the city’s decorative arts, with every print and colour thoughtfully chosen to be seamlessly styled together, with past collections and your own existing pieces.

Through tactile geometrics and stylised floral motifs, Lisboa celebrates the art of layering pattern - mimicking the endless decoration found in the city’s ceramic tiles whilst paying homage to Birdie’s own love for mixing prints. Each design takes inspiration from architectural details - our hero print, Calcada, is inspired by a pattern seen on Lisbon’s striking pavements, whilst the structural and symmetrical Santa Maria design was born from a detail on an 18th century rug in the Museum of Santa Maria Major.

The city's vibrant primary colours have been interpreted through softer tones - dusky pinks, teal washed blues and accents of bright red, nodding to the rich hues of Autumn/Winter but in warm and uplifting shades which seamlessly transition across the seasons. Lisboa’s mosaic-like designs are used across velvets, embroideries, crochets, cottons and linens - textures that layer together for an eclectic yet harmonious interior. The curated collection of new textural lampshades paired with the on-trend Bobbin Floor Lamps make a statement in any interior, whilst the intricate Crochet Throw and new collection of sumptuous cushions add visual interest.

The clean lines and organic form of our new jewel-toned painted Rattan Furniture adds weight to Lisboa’s soft-furnishings, table linens, lamps and lampshades, whilst the opulent darker colours sit perfectly with this season’s collection of rugs.  Our new Villa Rug has been designed in bold, coordinating tones to ground a scheme, whilst the jute and wool mix Buna Rug adds textural interest. Our hero Namda Rug has been created by using a felting process, a craft indigenous to Kashmir whereby layers of wool are pressed rather than woven together. Finished with a Kashmiri chain stitch hand embroidery, it adds a wonderful artisanal finish to any interior.

Back by popular demand, our much-loved Bel design has returned, block printed across table linens as well as featuring in a collection of aprons, tea towels and paper napkins. Designed to sit with our Twisted Candlesticks and existing tablewares, they work perfectly for a tablescape that can be either patterned up or pared back, depending on your personal style. The Pentola Cotton Mache Vases and Christmas Baubles have been sustainably made using textile waste from the fashion industry and designed to create a warm and playful festive scheme.

The thoughtful curation of this collection has been designed to complement modern day life and to suit all interiors, providing the perfect backdrop to Autumn/Winter living.

We hope you will love discovering Lisboa and look forward to meeting you in person to discuss the collection at our new London store, 324-326 Kings Road, London, SW3 5UR.
