Pattern up or pare back your bedroom
27th March 2023

As with all of our collections, Florentine has been designed to be seamlessly styled in a number of ways - whether you’re looking to ‘pattern up’ in a maximalist scheme or ‘pare back’ for a more minimalist, scaled back look. Every piece has been created with versatility in mind, catering to both traditional and more contemporary interiors, and can be styled in varying combinations of colour and print for completely different results.

PARE BACK

At Birdie Fortescue, our considered collections are designed to layer together but we also ensure that every piece creates visual impact when styled on its own too. Depending on your own personal style or the occasion, a ‘pared back’ approach explores the age-old mantra that less is more. The key to creating a stylish pared back look is to choose high quality pieces that incorporate different textures and pick one or two key colours.

‘Pared back’ doesn’t have to only play with beige or neutral tones - this pink and green bedroom scheme is still calming and cohesive, without being bland. Layering textiles in a bedroom helps to make the room feel luxurious and sumptuous, while also bringing that desired warmth and comfort. To take a pared back approach to bedroom styling does not necessarily mean to strip back fabrics - here Birdie has layered print and colour in the soft furnishings but has interspersed block colours  in the plain velvets and wool throw to break up the patterns. Despite the use of geometrics, this bed scheme still feels refined and relaxing - exactly how you want a bedroom to feel.

PATTERN UP

At Birdie Fortescue, we love to ‘pattern up’ schemes with varying combinations of print - we’re big believers that an interior can still look cohesive and intentional if patterns are layered in the right way. What is important when combining geometrics, florals, checks and stripes, is to use colour carefully. You want to base your scheme on one or two core colours in varying shades, adding a third as an accent which features more than once in the room.

This bedroom features various Florentine prints across its textiles -Piazza, Baptisteryand Finestra, carrying blues and greens in varying shades through the fabrics, artwork and lamps to ground the scheme. This serene colour combination brings harmony to this bedroom, whilst the cameo pink acts as a visual thread in the Piazza Cushions and Ziggurat Rug for added interest and balance. The Embroidered Velvet Trellis Cushions and Runda Etched Glass lamp break up the print, whilst the rattan accents add an informal, earthiness to the room. This bedroom scheme feels fun and playful, without feeling chaotic and overwhelming and is a firm favourite amongst the Birdie Fortescue team.
