Lucy Innes Williams - The Voluptuous
This painting collection of fruit platters from artist Lucy Innes Williams are a contemporary, playful re-imagining of the traditional still life oeuvre. They appear seemingly suspended in a box, much like a Victorian collector’s display. Abundant bowls of fruit and foliage suggest memories of busy dinners and alfresco feasts. Paintings are floated within a tulip wood tray frame.
Painted on meticulously drawn and laser-cut poplar wooden boards, each shape and its platter is entirely unique. Lucy’s paintings celebrate the presence of the human hand in their expressive mark-making and the visible suspension of water and paint across their vibrant surface.
Lucy is based in Falmouth, Cornwall. She received her BA (Hons) Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art.
