A shade for every lamp

Lampshades are a great way to utilise colour, texture, and print within your interior. Not only can they unify your design scheme, but they can also add a touch of personality to an otherwise dark corner.

Now in full swing, a number of patterned Lampshades are in the limelight for our Summer Sale. This includes our stunning Capilla Block Print Lampshades, one of our signature Edo Stripe Lampshade, and our colourful Piazza Pleated Lampshade. Any of these bold geometric designs would sit perfectly on our Small Twisted Table Lamp which is ideal for a bedside table due to its slim proportions.

Perhaps you are looking for more of a statement piece? Our unique Shido Ceramic Lamp sits well on a side table, styled with our only embroidered lampshade, Bordado. The pink and red option is online now, with a 20% discount! Our collection of lampshades has been crafted to mix and match effortlessly with various bases, ensuring they complement all our designs and seamlessly integrate with your existing home style.

How to begin

When it comes to styling pattern within your interior don’t be afraid to mix and match. For a starting point, choose one hero design as your statement piece. This could be a fabric with a colourful design, like one of our Suzanis or your favourite piece of art like 'Blue House' by Dana Finch. As you plan your interior, introduce smaller secondary and tertiary patterns to compliment your hero piece.

Pattern on pattern

Using too many small and intricate patterns at once can result in a visual overload. Instead, adhere to the scheme established by your hero. Layer patterns of different sizes and textures to achieve a harmonious composition, ensuring you vary types of prints as well; for example, combining florals with geometrics can add a contemporary twist to your design. This works for any room where you are incorporating a mixture of fabrics and lighting to create an eclectic feel that really works!

Don’t forget to balance your arrangement with block colour, tying in artworks and home accessories, such as our Plaited Woven Tray or a Twisted Candlestick. Whether you aim for a minimalist aesthetic or a more maximalist approach, our lampshades offer versatile and easy styling options to achieve your desired look.

Top Tip

Ensure you have a colour palette and keep to it, as this is the key to achieving a calm and concordant feel, even with a mixture of prints and texture!

Simple and textural

If your goal is to create a calming atmosphere with a minimalist approach, why not style our Runda Etched Glass Lamp with a Pent Raffia Lampshade for a gentle pairing, soft in colour. Or, choose our Vekony Glass Lamp in Green with one of our Seema Raffia shades if you are looking to incorporate natural tones. Our Raffia lampshades are designed with versatility in mind, featuring clean lines and a natural, textured look. The raffia material is not only durable but also offers a unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. This makes them a staple for any style of decor, seamlessly fitting into various styles, from rustic to modern.

Position is everything

When choosing your lighting, avoid using a single source or placing every light at the same level. Varying the heights and tiers of your lighting will add depth, highlight features, and cater to different activities and moods. Strategically use table lamps, floor lamps, and ceiling lights for optimal illumination and flexibility in creating the desired atmosphere. For example, dramatic lighting from statement pieces and lit alcoves can set the mood for a social gathering with friends, while brighter, whole-room lighting is ideal for cleaning up afterward. For sleeping, softer bedside lighting creates a tranquil environment that helps you relax and offers the convenience of turning the lamp off without leaving bed.

Wall Lighting

Wall-mounted fixtures like sconces provide ambiance that can enhance layered lighting schemes and add visual interest. Why not style a couple of our Tedate Painted Raffia Shades, which offer a curved shape closer to the wall, as task lighting beside a bed? To accentuate artwork or architecture, perhaps a smaller, traditional cone-shaped shade would be better. Our Seema Raffia Candleshades are now discounted in our Summer Sale too, with a delightful range of trim colors to suit any interior. Any space would be elevated with a hint of playful stripes. The textural string design of our Stripey String Candleshades, from our collaboration with Sarah Corbett Winder, makes them wonderfully unique and brings a textural edge to your lighting scheme. These look wonderful together or on their own!

Lighting significantly influences the ambiance of an interior, serving as the perfect finishing touch to your design scheme. It's not only functional, but also contributes to the aesthetic and overall mood of a room.

This summer, enhance your home with our fantastic Summer Sale selection of not just lighting! Our sale features soft furnishings, dining accessories and much more!
