Katy Eccles took over Imprint Casts from her mother who started her studio by making botanical tiles for family and friends. Katy’s family’s stunning garden in Fife is at the heart of her practice and many of the specimens she casts are picked from the garden. Casting is a labour intensive process that requires huge amounts of patience to achieve a crisp, blemish free finish in the final plaster cast. Some of Katy’s casts are left with a raw finish whilst others are painstakingly painted with multiple coats of acrylic paint.
